Switching Failure Mechanism in Zinc Peroxide-Based Programmable Metallization Cell

The impact of peroxide surface treatment on the resistive switching characteristics of zinc peroxide (ZnO2)-based programmable metallization cell (PMC) devices is investigated. The peroxide treatment results in a ZnO hexagonal to ZnO2 cubic phase transformation; however, an excessive treatment results in crystalline decomposition. The chemically synthesized ZnO2 promotes the...

Collaborative organizational forms: on communities, crowds, and new hybrids

In this article, I examine collaborative organizational forms in terms of their institutional properties and the mechanisms by which they solve the universal problems of organizing. Based on three ideal forms—markets, hierarchies, and communities—I propose a framework for analyzing and mapping organizational forms. The framework expands our understanding of the ideal forms and...

Health care providers’ adherence to immediate postpartum care guideline and associated factors among women who gave birth in Mekele public teaching hospitals, Tigray 2018

ObjectiveTo assess health care providers adherence to immediate postpartum care and associated factors among women’s who gave birth in Mekele teaching public hospitals, 2018.ResultsThe Health care providers’ complete adherence to immediate postpartum care guideline was 22.8%. Health care providers who have complete adherence to prenatal care guideline were 93.3% less likely to...

The provision of urban green space and its accessibility: Spatial data effects in Brussels

Urban green space (UGS) has many environmental and social benefits. UGS provision and access are increasingly considered in urban policies and must rely on data and indicators that can capture variations in the distribution of UGS within cities. There is no consensus about how UGS, and their provision and access, must be defined from different land use data types. Here we...

Children’s Perspectives on Their Learning in School Spaces: What Can We Learn from Children in Brazil and Finland?

In this study, we investigated children’s perceptions of their learning experiences in early childhood education and care using data from two different settings: Brazil and Finland. We adopted a qualitative and cross-national research design. Photographs were used to gather children’s representations of their learning places and spaces and also later to elicit reflections during...

A review of the spider genus Sinanapis, with the description of a new species from Tibet (Araneae, Anapidae)

The genus Sinanapis Wunderlich & Song, 1995 is reviewed in this paper. The material of all three known species was reexamined and photographed resulting in a new species, Sinanapis medogense sp. n. (♂, ♀) being described from Tibet, China. A key is provided for the genus, as well as species diagnoses, illustrations, and distribution maps for all four species of Sinanapis.

Combined explanations of B-physics anomalies: the sterile neutrino solution

Abstract In this paper we provide a combined explanation of charged- and neutral-current B-physics anomalies assuming the presence of a light sterile neutrino NR which contributes to the B → D(*)τν processes. We focus in particular on two simplified models, where the mediator of the flavour anomalies is either a vector leptoquark U 1 μ ∼ (3, 1, 2/3) or a scalar leptoquark S1...

Five microRNAs in serum as potential biomarkers for prostate cancer risk assessment and therapeutic intervention

BackgroundProstate cancer (PCa) is a common malignant human tumor and one of the main causes of cancer-related deaths in men. At present, prostate-specific antigen levels are widely used to diagnose PCa in the clinic, but they are not sufficient for an accurate early diagnosis or prognosis.MethodsTo identify potential molecular markers for PCa, we used real-time PCR to measure...

MSC stimulate ovarian tumor growth during intercellular communication but reduce tumorigenicity after fusion with ovarian cancer cells

The tumor microenvironment enables important cellular interactions between cancer cells and recruited adjacent populations including mesenchymal stroma/stem cells (MSC). In vivo cellular interactions of primary human MSC in co-culture with human SK-OV-3 ovarian cancer cells revealed an increased tumor growth as compared to mono-cultures of the ovarian cancer cells. Moreover, the...

Through Army-Colored Glasses: A Layered Account of One Veteran’s Experiences in Higher Education

There is a lack of research on military veterans in higher education that captures the issues from an insider’s perspective. To that end, I sought to reflect upon my own experiences with higher education as military veteran—from a budding recruit all the way through to now being an administrator and faculty member. I utilized a layered-account autoethnographic approach (Ronai...

Evaluation of compaction parameters of fine-grained soils using standard and modified efforts

Compaction characteristics of the soil have the great importance for practically achieving the desired strength, permeability and compressibility of soil during the construction. Standard compaction test (SCT) and modified compaction test (MCT) are two very famous laboratory test methods to determine the compaction characteristics of soils worldwide. Modest efforts have been made...

Diagnoses and time to recovery among injured recreational runners in the RUN CLEVER trial

Purpose The purpose of the present study was to describe the incidence proportion of different types of running-related injuries (RRI) among recreational runners and to determine their time to recovery. Methods A sub-analysis of the injured runners included in the 839-person, 24-week randomized trial named Run Clever. During follow-up, the participants reported levels of pain in...

Initial observations of water quality indicators in the unconfined shallow aquifer in Dili City, Timor-Leste: suggestions for its management

The management of groundwater quality is a critical issue in developing nations where sanitation and drinking water targets are commonly addressed by facilitating access to groundwater, which is then managed as a common-pool resource. We investigate the quality of the shallow unconfined groundwater in Dili’s alluvial fan system, which 50% of Dili’s rapidly growing population use...
