Wheat and Grain Sorghum in Four-Year Rotations

In 1996, an effort began to quantify soil water storage, crop water use, and crop productivity on dryland systems in western Kansas. Research on 4-year crop rotations with wheat and grain sorghum was initiated at the Southwest Research-Extension Center near Tribune, KS. Rotations were wheat-wheat-sorghum-fallow (WWSF), wheatsorghum- sorghum-fallow (WSSF), and continuous wheat (WW). ...

Sequential Weed Control Programs in Liberty Link Soybeans

The development of glyphosate-resistant weeds has greatly complicated weed control in soybeans. Liberty Link soybeans provide growers an alternative herbicide option for postemergence weed control in soybeans. Liberty Link programs can provide effective weed control in a sequential weed-control program that includes effective preemergence residual herbicides at planting time ...

Yang Baxter and anisotropic sigma and lambda models, cyclic RG and exact S-matrices

Integrable deformation of SU(2) sigma and lambda models are considered at the classical and quantum levels. These are the Yang-Baxter and XXZ-type anisotropic deformations. The XXZ type deformations are UV safe in one regime, while in another regime, like the Yang-Baxter deformations, they exhibit cyclic RG behaviour. The associ-ated affine quantum group symmetry, realized ...

Marginal and non-commutative deformations via non-abelian T-duality

In this short article we develop recent proposals to relate Yang-Baxter sigmamodels and non-abelian T-duality. We demonstrate explicitly that the holographic spacetimes associated to both (multi-parameter)-β-deformations and non-commutative deformations of \( \mathcal{N} \) = 4 super Yang-Mills gauge theory including the RR fluxes can be obtained via the machinery of non-abelian ...

Aspects of the doubled worldsheet

We clarify the relation between various approaches to the manifestly T-duality symmetric string. We explain in detail how the PST covariant doubled string arises from an unusual gauge fixing. We pay careful attention to the role of “spectator” fields in this process and also show how the T-duality invariant doubled dilaton emerges naturally. We extend these ideas to non-Abelian ...

Resurgence in η-deformed Principal Chiral Models

We study the SU(2) Principal Chiral Model (PCM) in the presence of an integrable η-deformation. We put the theory on \( \mathbb{R}\times {S}^1 \) with twisted boundary conditions and then reduce the circle to obtain an effective quantum mechanics associated with the Whittaker-Hill equation. Using resurgent analysis we study the large order behaviour of perturbation theory and ...

Testing the Efficacy of Global Biodiversity Hotspots for Insect Conservation: The Case of South African Katydids

The use of endemism and vascular plants only for biodiversity hotspot delineation has long been contested. Few studies have focused on the efficacy of global biodiversity hotspots for the conservation of insects, an important, abundant, and often ignored component of biodiversity. We aimed to test five alternative diversity measures for hotspot delineation and examine the efficacy ...

Integrable λ-deformations: squashing coset CFTs and AdS5 × S 5

We examine integrable λ-deformations of SO(n + 1)/SO(n) coset CFTs and their analytic continuations. We provide an interpretation of the deformation as a squashing of the corresponding coset σ-model’s target space. We realise the λ-deformation for n = 5 case as a solution to supergravity supported by non-vanishing five-form and dilaton. This interpolates between the coset CFT SO(4, ...

Spacetimes for λ-deformations

We examine a recently proposed class of integrable deformations to two-dimensional conformal field theories. These λ-deformations interpolate between a WZW model and the non-Abelian T-dual of a Principal Chiral Model on a group G or, between a G/H gauged WZW model and the non-Abelian T-dual of the geometric coset G/H. λ-deformations have been conjectured to represent quantum group ...

Holographic flows in non-Abelian T-dual geometries

We use non-Abelian T-duality to construct new \( \mathcal{N}=1 \) solutions of type IIA supergravity (and their M-theory lifts) that interpolate between AdS 5 geometries. We initiate a study of the holographic interpretation of these backgrounds as RG flows between conformal fixed points. Along the way we give an elegant formulation of non-Abelian T-duality when acting on a wide ...

New \( \mathcal{N} \) =1 supersymmetric AdS 5 backgrounds in type IIA supergravity

We present a family of \( \mathcal{N} \) =1 supersymmetric backgrounds in type-IIA super-gravity and their lifts to eleven-dimensional supergravity. These are of the form AdS 5 × X 5 and are characterised by an SU(2) structure. The internal space, X 5, is obtained from the known Sasaki-Einstein manifolds, Y p,q , via an application of non-Abelian T-duality.

Taxonomic and Functional Metagenomic Signature of Turfs in the Abrolhos Reef System (Brazil)

Turfs are widespread assemblages (consisting of microbes and algae) that inhabit reef systems. They are the most abundant benthic component in the Abrolhos reef system (Brazil), representing greater than half the coverage of the entire benthic community. Their presence is associated with a reduction in three-dimensional coral reef complexity and decreases the habitats available for ...

Beat Synchronization across the Lifespan: Intersection of Development and Musical Experience

Rhythmic entrainment, or beat synchronization, provides an opportunity to understand how multiple systems operate together to integrate sensory-motor information. Also, synchronization is an essential component of musical performance that may be enhanced through musical training. Investigations of rhythmic entrainment have revealed a developmental trajectory across the lifespan, ...
