Existence of unique common solution to the system of non-linear integral equations via fixed point results in incomplete metric spaces

In this article, we apply common fixed point results in incomplete metric spaces to examine the existence of a unique common solution for the following systems of Urysohn integral equations and Volterra-Hammerstein integral equations, respectively: u ( s ) = ϕ i ( s ) + ∫ a b K i ( s , r , u ( r ) ) d r , where s ∈ ( a , b ) ⊆ R ; u , ϕ i ∈ C ( ( a , b ) , R n ) and K i : ( a , b ) ...

Some fixed point theorems in generating space of b-quasi-metric family

The purpose of this work is to study some properties of “Generating space of b-quasi-metric family”(simply \(G_{bq}\)-family) and derive some fixed point theorems using some standard contractions. Presented theorems extend and generalize many well-known results in the literature of fixed point theory .

Assessment of core drug use indicators using WHO/INRUD methodology at primary healthcare centers in Bahawalpur, Pakistan

Background Proper utilization of medicines is a critical component of pharmaceutical care plan. The aim of this study was to assess drug use pattern at ten primary healthcare centers (PHCCs) of the Bahawalpur district of the Punjab province of Pakistan by employing the WHO/INRUD core drug use indicators. Methods This was a descriptive, non-experimental and cross-sectional study. ...

Common coupled fixed point theorems satisfying rational type contractive conditions in b-metric spaces

In this article, existence and uniqueness of common coupled fixed point for a pair of mappings in the setup of complete b-metric spaces are studied. The derived result generalizes and extends some well known results from the existing literature in b-metric spaces. Appropriate example is also given.

Common fixed point theorems of integral type contraction on metric spaces and its applications to system of functional equations

In this article, using the common \((CLR)\) property, common fixed point results for two pairs of weakly compatible mappings satisfying contractive condition of integral type on metric spaces are established. Furthermore, the existence and uniqueness of common solution for system of functional equations arising in dynamic programming are discussed as an application of a common ...

Some fixed point results in dislocated quasi metric (dq-metric) spaces

The aim of this paper is to investigate some fixed point results in dislocated quasi metric (dq-metric) spaces. Fixed point results for different types of contractive conditions are established, which generalize, modify and unify some existing fixed point theorems in the literature. Appropriate examples for the usability of the established results are also given. We notice that by ...

Assessing English speaking skills of prospective teachers at entry and graduation level in teacher education program

The development of Spoken English in Pakistani teachers training institutions working in public sector has never been assessed. This study explores the extent of improvement in English speaking skills among prospective teachers of one year teacher education program at three public sector universities in Punjab, Pakistan, where English is the medium of instruction, like all other ...

Resistance of polio to its eradication in Pakistan

Background This study is based on EPI (Expanded Program on Immunization) immunization surveys and surveillance of polio, its challenges in immunization and the way forward to overcome these challenges. Methods Several Government documents, survey reports and unpublished program documents were studied and online search was made to find information on EPI Pakistan. SPSS 16 and ...

Hepatitis B virus infection among different sex and age groups in Pakistani Punjab

Background Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a serious health problem in the developing countries including Pakistan. Various risk factors are responsible for the spread of this infectious disease. Prevalence of HBV infection in apparently suspected individual of Punjab province of Pakistan was analyzed during January 2008 to December 2010. Current study was aimed to investigate ...

Inhibition of full length Hepatitis C Virus particles of 1a genotype through small interference RNA

Background Hepatitis C virus (HCV), a member of the Flaviviridae family of viruses, is a major cause of chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Currently, the only treatment available consists of a combination of Pegylated interferon alpha (INF-α) and ribavirin, but only half of the patients treated show a sufficient antiviral response. Thus there is a ...

A situational analysis of HIV and AIDS in Pakistan

HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus) transmission has been reduced by protected sex and screening of blood products and other body fluids in the developed countries. It has been reported that Pakistan is at high risk of HIV/AIDS infection but presently the prevalence rate is considerably low. The number of reported cases of HIV/AIDS in Pakistan has been continuously increasing since ...

Post-transcriptional inhibition of hepatitis C virus replication through small interference RNA

Background Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) infection is a major health problem throughout world that causes acute and chronic infection which resulted in liver fibrosis, hepatocellular carcinoma and death. The only therapy currently available for HCV infection is the combination of pegylated interferon alpha (PEG-IFN α) and ribavirin. This therapy can effectively clear the virus infection ...

Development of persistent HCV genotype 3a infection cell culture model in huh-7 cell

Background Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is one of the major health concerns globally, with genotype 3a as the most prevalent in Pakistan. Lack of efficient HCV genotype 3a small animal models as well as genomic replicons has hampered the complete understanding of its life cycle, pathogenesis and therapeutic options. In this study we aimed to develop a persistent HCV genotype 3a ...

Huh-7 cell line as an alternative cultural model for the production of human like erythropoietin (EPO)

Background and Aims Erythropoietin (EPO) is a glycoprotein hormone which is required to regulate the production of red blood cells. Deficiency of EPO is known to cause anemia in chronically infected renal patients and they require regular blood transfusion. Availability of recombinant EPO has eliminated the need for blood transfusion and now it is extensively used for the treatment ...
