Strömgren and Hβ photometry of O and B type stars in star-forming regions - III. Carina Spiral Feature

Strömgren and Hβ photometry of O and B type stars, generally brighter than 9.5 mag is reported for the field of the Carina Spiral Feature. The observations are based on the PPM catalogue identifications and are designed to improve the completeness of the existing data for the bright early-type stars in the field. We present new uvby photometry for 283 stars and Hβ photometry for...

Massive stellar content of the Galactic supershell GSH 305+01−24

Aims. The distribution of OB stars along with Hα, 12CO, dust infrared emission, and neutral hydrogen is carried out to provide a more complete picture of interactions of the young massive stars and the observed supershell GSH 305+01−24. Methods. The studied field is located between 299° ≤ l ≤ 311° and −5° ≤ b ≤ 7°. The investigation is based on nearly 700 O-B9 stars with...

The region of Collinder 121

The distribution of bright B-type stars in a field with a radius of 5° centred at the Galactic open cluster Cr 121 is studied utilizing Strömgren and Hβ photometry. All PPM stars earlier than spectral type A0 are used, revealing a loose nearby structure at a distance of 660–730 pc, and a compact more distant group, which appears to be a genuine cluster: Cr 121. Based on similar...

Strømgren and Hβ photometry of OB stars in the region of the Carina Spiral Feature

Strømgren and Hβ photometry of 130 stars in the Carina section of the Milky Way is presented. The color excesses and the distances of all stars are obtained. A good agreement is found between the CM and HR diagrams and the spatial distribution of these stars.

The distribution of bright OB stars in the Canis Major-Puppis-Vela region of the Milky Way

The picture of the young stellar groups in the Canis Major-Puppis-Vela (215°<l<275°) section of the Milky Way is studied and updated utilizing uvbyβ photometry of intrinsically luminous OB stars. We use all data from the literature to create a sample with 98 per cent completeness to 9.5 mag. The very dense low reddened OB association CMa OB1 is confirmed at a distance of 0.99 (±0...

Strömgren and Hβ photometry of associations and open clusters – III. Cen OB1 and Cru OB1

Strömgren and Hβ photometry of 24 stars in the field of Cen OB1 and 23 stars in the field of Cru OB1 is presented. The excesses, the absolute magnitudes and the temperatures of the stars are obtained. The masses and the ages are also estimated, based on the Maeder & Meynet models. The investigated stars form compact groups with true distance moduli V0 – Mv = 11.78 mag for Cen OB1...
