Defect-related luminescent bur-like hydroxyapatite microspheres induced apoptosis of MC3T3-E1 cells by lysosomal and mitochondrial pathways

When orthopedic joints coated by hydroxyapatite (HA) were implanted in the human body, they release wear debris into the surrounding tissues. The generation and accumulation of wear particles will induce aseptic loosening. However, the potential bioeffect and mechanism of HA-coated orthopedic implants on bone cells are poorly understood. In this study, defect-related luminescent...

One-Pot Synthesis of Cu2ZnSnSe4 Nanoplates and their Visible-Light-Driven Photocatalytic Activity

A SeO2 ethanol solution as the facile precursor has been used for the preparation of quaternary Cu2ZnSnSe4 (CZTSe) nanoplates. Monodispersed single-phase CZTSe nanoplates have been prepared successfully by a facile one-pot thermal chemical method. The as-prepared CZTSe nanoplates show uniform morphology with a bandgap of ~ 1.4 eV. As a proof of concept, the CZTSe nanoplates have...

The earlier, the better: the effects of different administration timepoints of sorafenib in suppressing the carcinogenesis of VEGF in rats

Purpose To investigate the optimal starting time point of sorafenib therapy in suppressing the tumor-promoting effects of VEGF up-regulation, which is frequently found after local therapy in clinical practice. Methods VEGF was intravenously injected to imitate the evaluated expression after local tumor therapy, such as TACE. A total of 40 SD rats bearing hepatic tumors were...

A Method about the Propagation of Faults in Network

The study of network has been developed for several years. The research usually focuses on the attributes of the network, including the heterogeneity [1], the topology [2] [3] and the communities [4][5] of the network. About the propagation dynamics, reference [6][7] laid emphasis on the mathematical analysis of the propagation of networks. Although these researches are important...

Explorations of two empirical formulas for fermion masses

Two empirical formulas for the lepton and quark masses (i.e. Kartavtsev’s extended Koide formulas), \(K_l=(\sum _l m_l)/(\sum _l\sqrt{m_l})^2=2/3\) and \(K_q=(\sum _q m_q)/(\sum _q\sqrt{m_q})^2=2/3\), are explored in this paper. For the lepton sector, we show that \(K_l=2/3\), only if the uncertainty of the tauon mass is relaxed to about \(2\sigma \) confidence level, and the...

Plasma from patients with anti-glomerular basement membrane disease could recognize microbial peptides

Infection has long been suspected as a trigger of autoimmune diseases, and molecular mimicry mechanism was hypothesized in this study. Microbe originated peptides were searched from the Uniprot database based on a previous defined critical amino acid motif within α3129−150, isoleucine137, tryptophan140, glycine142, phenylalanine 143 and phenylalanine 145. 23826 microbial peptides...

An analytical investigation on the wrinkling of aluminium alloys during stamping using macro-scale structural tooling surfaces

Structural surface texturing is believed to be a promising approach to modify tribological and thermal performances of tooling for sheet-stamping processes. However, a fundamental study on the surface-texturing design and resulting material deformation is currently lacking. In this paper, an advanced analytical buckling model specifically for the utilisation of textured tools at...

Impacts of different SNLS3 light-curve fitters on cosmological consequences of interacting dark energy models

We explore the cosmological consequences of interacting dark energy (IDE) models using the SNLS3 supernova samples. In particular, we focus on the impacts of different SNLS3 light-curve fitters (LCF; referred to in this paper as SALT2, SiFTO and combined sample). Firstly, making use of the three SNLS3 data sets, as well as the Planck distance priors data and the galaxy clustering...

Dark energy and normalization of the cosmological wave function

Dark energy is investigated from the perspective of quantum cosmology. It is found that, together with an appropriate normal ordering factor q, only when there is dark energy can the cosmological wave function be normalized. This interesting observation may require further attention.
