Message from the new Editor-in-Chief

J Oceanogr Message from the new Editor‑in‑Chief Joji Ishizaka Joji Ishizaka - As of April 1, 2015, I will become the new Editor-in Chief of the Journal of Oceanography, taking over from Dr. Toshiyuki Hibiya. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Dr. Hibiya and the twenty previous editorial board members for their great contributions to the Journal of Oceanography. Six of the previous editorial board members will be replaced by new members, and we also asked one additional editorial member to enhance our handling capability. The Journal of Oceanography is becoming one of the leading international journals from the Asia–Pacific region in this field. Over the last four years, there have been more than 150 submissions per year from 36 countries. About 60 scientific papers have been published every year including short contributions, review articles and special issues. Many of the recent papers are published only 6 months after submission. As the new Editor-in-Chief, I am looking forward to seeing many high quality papers not only about the North Pacific, but also about the Seven Seas and associated enclosed seas and coastal areas. We also would like to publish not only research papers, but also reviews to summarize the current understanding of the field and special issues of specific topics. We welcome your ideas and suggestions for further improvement of the Journal of Oceanography.
