El cariotipo fundamental de Alstroemeria versicolor Ruiz et Pav. (Alstroemeriaceae)

The karyotype of Alstroemeria versicolor Ruiz et Pav. from Chile was described. The species has a karyotype 2n = 2x = 16, and the haploid formula was 1m + 3sm + 1st + 2st-sat + 1t. The reported karyotype is asymmetric (AsK % = 65.9 and Syi = 51.8%). The results are discussed including data of others species.

CHAETANTHERA INCANA POEPP. EX LESS. (ASTERACEAE) Carlos M. Baeza, Eduardo Ruiz & Maria A. Negritto Departamento de Botánica, Universidad de Concepción, Casilla 160-C, Concepción, Chile

The karyotype oí Bomarea patinii Baker subsp. patinii from Colombia was examined. The species has a karyotype 2n = 2x= 18, with a haploid formula 2m + lsm+ 5st+ lt-sat. The reported karyotype is asymmetric (Asl %= 75.51). The most of the chromosomes are acrocentric. This results are compared with other species oiBomarea from South America.

El cariotipo de Chaetanthera linearis Poepp. (Asteraceae)

The karyotype of Chaetanthera linearis var. linearis from Chile was examined. The species has 2n = 2x = 22 chromosomes, with 9m + 1st + 1 st-sat chromosomes. The reported karyotype is symmetric (AsK % = 58.0, TF % = 42.0 and Syi % = 72.4). The karyotype of this species was compared with Ch. microphylla var. microphylla a very similar species in morphology and distribution to Ch...

Schickendantziella trichosepala (Speg.) Speg., a new record from Bolivian fora. The taxonomic history, description, iconography and geographical distribution of this monotypic South American genus are presented.

Reproducción vegetativa y número cromosómico de Adesmia bijuga Phil. (Fabaceae), una especie endémica en peligro crítico de la Región del Maule, Chile

In this note the vegetative reproduction and chromosome number of Adesmia bijuga Phil., an endemic shrub of Central Chile, that is classified as a critically endangered species, is investigated. Our results indicate a positive response of A. bijuga to the shoot rooting by means of promoting hormones. The chromosome number of A. bijuga is 2n = 20. Most of the chromosomes are...

Revision of the genus Pseudognaphalium (Asteraceae, Gnaphalieae) in Chile

The genus Pseudognaphalium is one of the largest genera of the tribe Gnaphalieae (Asteraceae) with about 90 species with worldwide distribution. The vast majority of species are found in South, Central and North America, but some species also occur in Asia and Africa. This work includes the revision of 12 species of Pseudognaphalium from Chile, P. aldunateoides, P. cabrerae, P...

¿Es Alstroemeria pulchra Sims var. maxima Phil. (Alstroemeriaceae) un miembro del complejo A. magnifica Herbert?: Estudio colorimétrico de los tépalos externos e internos de la flor

Alstroemeria pulchra var. maxima is an endemic Chilean taxon described by R.A. Philippi in 1864, whose taxonomic position is controversial; even though Bayer in 1987 transferred this taxon to A. magnifica with the rank of subspecies, Muñoz & Moreira in 2003 return to the original concept proposed by Philippi. In order to provide a new character to decide if A. pulchra var. maxima...

Alstroemeria presliana Herb. (Alstroemeriaceae) in Chile from a Cytogenetic Perspective

Alstroemeria (Alstroemeriaceae) is an endemic genus of South America with two major distribution centers in the continent: Chile and Brazil. In Chile the genus is distributed from the North, near Iquique (20°13’ S, 70°09’ W) to the Chilean and Argentine Patagonia (53°10’ S, 70°54’ W). The central zone of Chile presents the highest number of species. A. presliana Herb. grows from...

Análisis comparativo del cariotipo en poblaciones de Alstroemeria ligtu subsp. ligtu y A. ligtu subsp. simsii (Alstroemeriaceae) de Chile

Alstroemeria (Alstroemeriaceae) is a genus endemic to South America. In Chile, this genus is distributed from the northern end to Patagonia, with a diversification center in central Chile. Precisely in this central zone grows Alstroemeria ligtu with its three subspecies: A. ligtu subsp. incarnata, A. ligtu subsp. simsii and A. ligtu subsp. ligtu. A comparative study of the...
