The Diophantine Equation

Let be a fixed odd prime. Using certain results of exponential Diophantine equations, we prove that (i) if , then the equation has no positive integer solutions ; (ii) if , then the equation has only the solutions , where is an odd prime with ; (iii) if and , then the equation has at most two positive integer solutions .

An exact upper bound estimate for the number of integer points on the elliptic curves y2=x3−pkx

Let p be a fixed prime and k be a fixed odd positive integer. Further let N(pk) denote the number of pairs of integer points (x,±y) on the elliptic curve E:y2=x3−pkx with y>0. Using some properties of the Diophantine equations, we gave an exact upper bound estimate for N(pk). That is, we proved that N(pk)≤4.MSC: 11G05, 11Y50.

A note on the equation xy+yz=zx

In this paper, we shall use some simple inequalities and a deep result on the existence of primitive divisors of Lucas numbers to prove that the exponential Diophantine equation xy+yz=zx has no positive integer solution (x,y,z) with 2∣y.MSC: 11D61.

Let p be a fixed prime and r be a fixed positive integer. Further let N(p2r) denote the number of pairs of integer points (x,±y) on the elliptic curve E:y2=x3+p2rx with y>0. Using some properties of Diophantine equations, we give a sharper upper bound estimate for N(p2r). That is, we prove that N(p2r)≤1, except with N(172(2s+1))=2, where s is a nonnegative integer.MSC: 11G05, 11Y50.
