Admirandopora nom. nov., a new replacement generic name for a Carboniferous bryozoan

Sci., Vol. 277), Moscow: GEOS, 2001 1 Marfenkova, M.M., Morskoi karbon Kazakhstana (strati grafiia, zonal'noe raschlenenie, foraminifery) (The Marine Carboniferous of Kazakhstan: Stratigraphy, Zonal Sequence, and Foraminifers), Alma Ata: Gylym, 1991 2 Paleontological Center, Academy of Sciences of Mongolia , Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia e mail: - In my paper (Ariunchimeg, 1996, p. 70) I described a new genus of Lower Carboniferous bryozoans Admirandafrom the Visan Stage of southern Mon golia. In her monograph Mshanki otryada Fenestel lida, Morozova (2001, p. 77) placed this genus in the family Admiratellidae Morozova, 1992 under the same name. However, that name proved to be preoc cupied by a Carboniferous foraminifer described by M.M. Marfenkova (1991) from Kazakhstan. In accor dance with the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (1999, Art. 60.3), I propose a new replacement name, Admirandopora, from the Latin admirandus (surprising) and porus (pore), for the jun ior homonym. I am grateful to Dr. P. Jackson (Trinity College, Ire land), who directed my attention to the homonymy and sent me the relevant literature. I am also grateful to Dr. L.A. Viskova (Paleontological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences) for inventing the new name. REFERENCES (...truncated)
