CPD Programme
Continuing professional development is the process of life-long learning in practice. It helps the medical
professionals to keep them up-to-date to meet the needs of the patient and health care services and to
improve their knowledge, skill and attitude. In Enam Medical College total 14 seminars were held during the
period of September to December 2015. Around 300 students, doctors and teachers attended each of these
seminars.
CME Programme
To enhance communication skill in teaching and learning and efficiency of judgment of teachers, especially
the freshly appointed teachers in the assessment in examinations and to improve medical teaching standard of
teachers by refreshing knowledge, skill and attitude, continued medical education (CME) programmes are
very much needed. It is also essential to make them oriented with the updating of education system, teaching
and research methodology and to share experience and views of senior faculties. In these perspectives,
Medical Education Unit of Enam Medical College is arranging quarterly teaching and learning sessions for all
teachers of the college. All the teachers of the college actively participate in these sessions.

Scientific Presentations
Dr. Sumia Bari, Assistant Professor, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Enam Medical College &
Hospital, Savar attended a programme on 3rd Public Health Foundation day at Sasakawa auditorium,
ICDDRB from December 7--8, 2015. She presented a paper on ‘Perception and Experience Regarding
Menopause among Menopausal Women Attending a Private Teaching Hospital’ at the scientific conference of
the programme.
Participation in scientific conference abroad
Prof. Md. Aminul Haque Khan, Head, Department of Biochemistry, Enam Medical College, Savar, Dhaka and
Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Enam Medical College attended the International Conference for Medical Journal
Editors organised jointly by World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), Indian Association of Medical
Journal Editors (IAMJE) and The National Medical Journal of India held in Hotel De Meridien, New Delhi,
India from October 2--4, 2015. He presented two papers titled ‘Authorship in Scientific Papers’ and ‘Journal
Poster Presentaiton: Journal of Enam Medical College’. The WAME board gave him the Dr. Bruce Squires
Travel Award. This award is sponsored by Canadian Medical Association (CMA) and Canadian Medical
Association Journal (CMAJ).
Prof. Md. Aminul Haque Khan, Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Enam Medical College also attended European
Conference of International Society of Managing and Technical Editors (ISMTE) and Committee on
Publication Ethics (COPE) Meeting held in Aviator Coference Centre of Hotel Park Inn in London Heathrow,
United Kingdom from October 12--13, 2015. He was awarded sponsorship from International Network for the
Availability of Scientific Publications (INASP) following a competitive selection process among the editors of
Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Mongolia and Latin America.
Prof. Gulshan Ara, Head, Department of Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Enam Medical College & Hospital,
Savar, Dhaka attended the 21st FIGO (The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstretrics) World
Congress 2015 held from October 4--9, 2015 in Vancouver, Canada.
Dr. Mashah Binte Amin, Assistant Professor, Department of Radiology & Imaging, Enam Medical College &
Hospital, Savar, Dhaka participated in the live activity entitled ‘Mt. Sinai Update 2015: Breast imaging’ in
The New York Academy of Medicine, New York City, New York, USA organised by the International Institute
of Continuing Medical Education, Inc. from October 12--14, 2015.
Training
Prof. Md. Aminul Haque Khan, Head, Department of Biochemistry, Enam Medical College, Savar attended
and successfully completed the CXXVIII Internal Auditor & Quality Management Systems Certificate course
as per ISO 15189-2012 AT Hotel Lake Castle, Gulshan-2, Dhaka from November 2--5, 2015. The course was
organised by UniHealth Ltd. and Ortho Clinical Diagnostic Limited, India and facilitated by Foundation for
Quality (India).
Prof. Shaheen Akter, Head, Department of Paediatrics, Enam Medical College & Hospital, Savar, Dhaka and
Dr. Sumia Bari, Assistant Professor, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Enam Medical College &
Hospital, Savar, Dhaka completed TOT (Training of Trainers) on Baby Friendly Hospital Initiatives (BFHI)
from September 13--16, 2015 organised by Bangladesh Breast feeding Foundation at Women & Child
Hospital, Ashulia, Dhaka.

Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) in Bangladesh’ organised by Combating Gestational Diabetes Mellitus
(CGDM) Project, Bangladesh University of Health Sciences, Dhaka held in Kumudini Women’s Medical
College Hospital, Mirzapur, Tangail on 31st October, 2015.
Achievement
Prof. Gulshan Ara, Head, Department of Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Enam Medical College & Hospital,
Savar, Dhaka attended fellowship and diploma courses on Laparoscopic, Hysteroscopic, Colposcopic and
Robotic Surgery at World Laparoscopic Hospital (WLH), Cyber City, Gurgaon, New Delhi, India from
December 1--31, 2015. She successfully completed fellowship training on different aspects of
