They were driven by Chomsky’s innate hypothesis: his criticism of Skinner is from 1959 and found in Review of Skinner’s Verbal Behavior. Since then, studies in the field have multiplied. They are grounded in different authors, questioning, changing and expanding those theories, under different perspectives, with emphasis on the works by Piaget, Vygotsky, Bruner, Tomasello, Pinker, among others. This Bakhtiniana issue is yet another example of the dialogue regarding this theme. Here concepts and notions of language developed by Mikhail Bakhtin and the Circle are the source for the investigation of child's linguistic development. In a field where studies are, as we know, controversial, experienced researchers Alessandra Del Ré (UNESP - Araraquara / SP - Brazil) and Anne Salazar Orwig (Université Sorbonne Nouvelle - Paris - France), as ad hoc editors, present the eight articles of this issue. Their interest is to disseminate dialogues that put in interaction the Bakhtinian thought with contributions by Frédéric François (1935-2020) - whose vast bibliography on the subject can be found in the Editorial and in several of the articles - and the French, Swiss and Brazilian authors. Thus, Bakhtiniana 16.1 becomes an important scientific moment in the trajectory of this field of investigation. The presentation of this issue and some of the epistemological positions held by the authors are found in the Editorial written by Del Ré and Salazar Orwig. They also provide a brief description of this issue’s articles. As always, the dialogical possibilities offered in the different texts are innumerable, which can greatly enrich the field of language acquisition studies. There are 8 articles, written by 15 authors, representing 8 universities and different institutes: in Brazil, UNESP, UFRGS, UFAL; abroad, Université Sorbonne Nouvelle, Center National de la Recherche Scientifique, Université de Neuchâtel, Université de Lille 3, Université de Rouen Normandie. We invite, therefore, readers to savor and include in their research this set which, once again, grants Bakhtiniana the opportunity of actively engaging in the cultural and academic lives, both from Brazil and abroad. The great number of submissions, as well as their rigorous selection, carried out by competent and collaborative Editorial Board and ad hoc peer-reviewers, has allowed for this excellent result to be achieved: Bakhtiniana remains steadfast in its commitment to always promoting dialogical possibilities among research devoted to language studies. In this sense, we thank, once again, the invaluable and constant support, assistance and recognition from MCTI [Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation]/CNPq [Brazilian National Research Council]/MEC [The Brazilian Ministry of Education]/ CAPES [Brazilian Federal Agency for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education] - CNPq Note 19/2019 - Programa Editorial / Editoração Proc. 441854/2019 [Editorial Program] - and PUC-SP, through their Plano de Incentivo à Pesquisa (PIPE’q) [Research Incentive Plan] (PIPE’q) / Publicação de Periódicos [Journal Publication] (PubPer-PUCSP) - 2020, Request 14663.This issue is dedicated to Olivia, whose babbling happily accompanied our work as editors.Translated by Bruna Lopes-Dugnani - [email protected]; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9440-779X and Renata Philippov - [email protected]; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3344-9034 REFERENCES CHOMSKY, N.
