Improving the learning outcomes of students in Christian Religion and Morals
in Class IX through the Jigsaw Type Cooperative Learning Strategy at SMP
Negeri 45 Medan. The purpose of this research was to improve student
learning outcomes in Class IX SMP Negeri 45 Medan in the 2019/2020
academic year. The method used in this study is the Classroom Action
Research Method using 2 cycles, the subjects of this study were 22 students
of class IX SMP Negeri 45 Medan, the instrument used was to obtain data is
to use a test, observing the range of values for the test is 1 - 100. The
instrument used for data processing is to use the calculation of the number of
student scores that have not been completed and the results of scores that have
been completed. The results of this study indicate that there is an increase in
learning outcomes with using a Jig-Saw cooperative learning strategy with the
following results: (1) 80 % of students get a score of 60 Then (2) in the
second cycle it increases to a value of 71.2 or reaches 84%.

Introduction
Teachers are educators who not only aim to make students become intelligent human beings,
but teachers are educators who aim to create students who are faithful, pious, virtuous, have character
and have a good personality so that they can adapt to their environment in the future. and lasts a
lifetime. Therefore, teachers must have competencies. There are 4 competencies that must be
possessed by a teacher, namely: (1) pedagogic competence, (2) professional competence, (3)
personality competence and (4) social competence.
Teachers need to have certain qualifications, namely professionalism: having competence in
science, moral credibility, dedication in carrying out tasks, mental maturity (maturity), and having
technical teaching skills and being able to generate the ethos and motivation of students in learning
and achieving success (Marno & Idris, 2009 ). the nature of the results learning is a change in
individuals who learn, not only about knowledge, but also forming skills and appreciation in
individuals to learn ( S. Nasution in Hamdani (20l1:12 ) .

Methods
Place and time of research
This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 45 Medan, North Sumatra Province. i.e. from
January 2019 to March 2019.
2.2 Action Object
This research is a classroom action research. The types of actions studied are:

The location of this Class Action Research (CAR) is SMP Negeri 45 Medan Class VIII with 22
Students, Christian Religious Education Subjects
2.4 Research procedure
This research is carried out directly in the classroom. Done with 2 Cycles .

3.1
Results and Discussion
Cycle 1
From the learning outcomes in the first cycle of students who have not completed are 6 people
(27, 2%), who completed are 16 students (72,7%). Based on the results of the implementation and
observations in the first cycle, the researchers made a reflection on the results. In the first cycle,
student learning outcomes have not reached in accordance with the indicators that have been set,
namely as many as 80% of students get a score of 60 or more. Therefore, this research was continued
to cycle II.
3.2
Cycle II
From the results of learning in the second cycle of students who have not completed are 3
people (13.2%), who completed are 19 students (86.3%). Based on the results of implementation and
observations in cycle I I then the researcher does a reflection on the results. In cycle I I student
learning outcomes already achieve according to the indicator which has been determined that as
many as 80% of students get a score of 60 or more. Therefore, this research no longer continued .
4.
Conclusion
The conclusions that can be drawn from this CAR are as follows: (1) Application The Jigsaw
Cooperative Learning Strategy is effectively used to improve student learning outcomes in Christian
Religion and Morals Education Subjects (2) The average learning outcome in Cycle I is 62.27 and
increases by an average of 72.72 in Cycle II. ( 3 ) learning outcomes in the first cycle of students who
have not completed are 6 people (27, 2%), who completed are 16 students (72,7%). And in cycle II.
From the learning outcomes in the second cycle, there were 3 students (13.2%) who had not
completed, and 19 students (86.3%) who finished. Student learning activities during learning from
cycle I to cycle II by applying S Jig-saw cooperative learning strategy increased.
