I Am Helen Keller

Children's Book and Media Review, Dec 2018

Helen Keller becomes blind and deaf as an infant from an illness. She then has to learn how to cope with life without being able to see or hear anything, and she is very frustrated because she cannot communicate with anyone anymore. A dear teacher, Anne Sullivan, comes into her life and teaches her Braille as well as sign language, and eventually Helen learns how to speak out loud. She is then able to communicate with others, and she goes on to accomplish many things in her life that most people thought she would never be able to do. When she graduates from college, she becomes an advocate for those with disabilities.
