Copyright © 2025 About The Cover Volume XIX 2025 David German Alatorre’s essay in this volume, “Exploring the Town Management and University Partnership Impact on Community and Economic Development in Bridgewater, Massachusetts,” makes the case that a well-developed public transit system is among the critical factors that foster community connectivity and stimulate economic growth. DAVID GERMAN ALATORRE (Management & Marketing, with a concentration in Information Systems) presenting his research at the 2025 Annual Conference of the Northeast Decision Sciences Institute Among the maps and tables that David created were these on the cover, showing accessibility to fixedroute public transit in the southeastern Massachusetts towns of Bridgewater, Franklin, North Attleborough, and Randolph. ArcGIS Pro and its map-creation tool sets, in combination with the MassGIS municipalities boundaries dataset, were employed to develop base layer maps portraying the four towns. Imported data sets from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) and its Massachusetts National Bus Transit Stops and Routes Dataset, as well as MassGIS (Bureau of Geographical Information) and its MBTA Commuter Rail Stops and Routes Dataset were then superimposed to display relevant thematic characteristics. The result is a data visualization of fixed-route public transit systems, including MBTA and bus routes and stops.
