Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei: Colloquium on the Geotectonics of the Kashmir Himalaya-Karakorum-Hindu Kush-Pamir Orogenic Belts

INFORMATION Accademia Nazionale Dei Lincei : COLLOQUIUM ON THE GEOTECTONICS OF THE KASHMIR HIMALAYA-KARAKORUM--HINDU KUSH-PAMIR OROGENIC BELTS The Accademla Nazionale dei Lincei - Rome, Italy, is planning to hold in Rome tentatively late in the Spring in 1974 an international Colloquium on the Geotectonics of the Kashmir Himalaya-Karakorum-Hindu Kush-Pamir Orogenic Belts. The aim of the Colloquium is to give a review of our present knowledge, including bibliography, on the geotectonic structure of the Kashmir-HimalayaKarakorum-Hindu Kush-Pamir orogenic Belts in Central Asia, to attempt a general synthesis of the existing geological and geophysical evidence, and to discuss possible hypotheses on the geotectonic evolution of such Belts. Scientists from various countries will be invited to deliver reports on the geotectonics, the gravimetric and geomagnetic trends, the deep discontinuities, the seismicity of the area concerned, and on the geodynamical theories proposed for the explanation of the Alpine--Himalayan orogeny in Central Asia.
