SYMPOSIUM
LIBEL AND SLANDER IN ILLINOIS
As the law relating to libel and slander developed over the past few
centuries, it became engrafted with numerous religious, political and historical eccentricities, and, as a consequence, appears at first to be complex
and bewildering. It is the purpose of this symposium to treat, in detail,
the varied aspects of the law of libel and slander, and to clarify some of the
more perplexing areas of defamation. Emphasis will be placed upon the
law of Illinois throughout the symposium.
