Leadership is the ability to influence other people, subordinates or groups, has special expertise in a specific field to achieve organizational goals or a group. While educational leadership is an ability and process of influencing, guiding, coordinating, and mobilizing other people who are related to the development of education and the implementation of education and teaching, so that the activities carried out can be more efficient and effective in achieving educational goals and teaching. Leaders have the power to regulate their members but the power given must be used responsibly. Responsible means not to use the powers that have been given for the benefit of himself or the individual, not authoritarian or all decisions must be based on his decision but not the result of the deliberations of its members

Introduction As an organization, educational institutions need not only a manager to manage the resources of educational institutions who concentrate more on budgetary issues and other administrative issues, but also require leaders who are able to create a vision and all individual components related to educational institutions. Leaders and managers are needed in the management of educational institutions. Unlike other organizations, educational institutions are a form of moral organization that is different from other forms of organization. As an organization, the success of an educational institution is not only determined by educational leadership, but also by other educational staff and the process of the educational institution itself. Leadership is essentially a person's ability to foster, guide, direct and move other people so that they can work together to achieve the goals that have been set. To realize these goals, leaders need to carry out a series of activities including directing the people involved in the organization they lead. In other words, the goals of an organization are achieved or not, depending on its leadership. Being responsible means not using the power that has been given for his own or individual interests, not authoritarian or all decisions must be based on his decision but not the result of deliberation of its members. Islamic education leadership is a way that leaders do in influencing, mobilizing, motivating and directing people in educational institutions so that the implementation of education can be more efficient and effective in achieving educational goals that have been formulated which are carried out in accordance with Islamic principles An educational leader must have several characteristics that unite him personally, socially, and morally. Thus these characteristics can have an impact on attitudes and any policies that will be taken, which has a positive meaning. The characteristics that must be possessed by the leadership of Islamic education are also more to how the characteristics are reflected by the Prophet Muhammad SAW. As an exemplary leader who is an ideal model for leaders, Rasulullah SAW was blessed with four main characteristics, namely: shiddiq, amanah, tabligh and fathanah. Siddiq means honest in words and deeds, amanah means trustworthy in keeping responsibility. Tabligh means conveying all kinds of goodness to the people. Fathanah means smart in managing society. Methods This study uses the literature study method, in which the author collects data and material from various sources related to the topics discussed in this article, namely educational leadership which includes: understanding, function, and leadership style of school principals. The purpose of this article is to make a description of the picture. or a systematic, factual and accurate description of the facts, characteristics and relationships between the phenomena being investigated. This research uses a content analysis research approach or also known as meta-analysis, namely by means of content analysis and combining several types of research that have been done before. 3. a. Results And Discussion Definition Of Educational Leadership Leadership is generally defined as the ability in readiness possessed by someone to be able to influence, encourage, invite, guide, move, direct, and if necessary force people or groups to accept that influence and then make something that can help achieve a certain goal that has been determined. set. Changes experienced by humans from time to time where every cultural period experienced by humans also experiences renewal. In fact, the modernization of technology every year brings big changes with significant impact changes. On the one hand it has a positive impact, on the other hand it has a negative impact where this impact has brought leadership to have two branches, namely leaders who no longer heed the Islamic religion and leaders who enter power according to Islamic corridors. Leadership is the art of influencing others, whether influencing individuals, religious organizations or institutions, education, community institutions, or other institutions. Leadership is the process of influencing the activities of organized groups towards setting and achieving goals (Ralp M.Stogdill). Leadership in organizations means the use of power and the making of decisions. (Robert Dubin). Leadership is an individual in a group who provides direction and organizing tasks that are relevant to group activities (Fred E. Fiedler). Leadership is any contribution to the establishment and attainment of group goals (Kimball Wiles). Two definitions from Carter V.
