This article highlights the significance of plants belonging to the Apiaceae family in pharmaceuticals and folk medicine. Members of the lily family contain essential oils, flavonoids, alkaloids, vitamins, and other biologically active substances, which are widely used in the treatment and prevention of various diseases. The article analyzes the chemical composition and medicinal properties of cumin, anise, cilantro, dill, and other medicinal plants. The prospects for using these plants in the production of medicines in the pharmaceutical industry are also considered. The research findings demonstrate the significant role of members of the Apiaceae family in medicine and pharmacy. Keywords: cumin, stinking ferula, anise, essential oils, dill, cilantro, carrots. Introduction. The ever-increasing global demand for economically significant plant species necessitates the preservation, protection, and restoration of their diversity. In recent years, the extensive use of medicinal plant raw materials in local and industrial production has made it essential to develop propagation measures based on the study of their biological properties and to eliminate factors that negatively affect their reserves. In this context, identifying pharmaceutical zones with high demand for raw materials, developing modern methods for their propagation and population conservation based on the study of biological characteristics, creating raw material reserves, and preparing high-quality raw materials are of scientific and practical importance. Zira is a perennial plant of the Apiaceae family, growing up to 70 cm in height. Its stem is straight and striated, with shield-like branching from the middle and bent shoots. The basal leaves are long-petioled, trifoliate, spreading, and bipinnately dissected. The umbels are 15-20-rayed and 15 cm wide. The umbellets have 20-30 flowers. The fruits are linear, up to 5 mm long and 1.5 mm wide, with filiform ribs, and are shorter than their thin pedicels. It flowers in May-June and bears fruit in July-August. Zira fruits are used in more than 250 dishes. In addition, it is used in the preparation of sausages, qazi, meat, and for canning fish, salting vegetables, and preserving meat from spoilage. The local population uses the crushed fruits to keep the insect larvae from eating them by stuffing them with dried fruit pulp. Cumin is an astringent spice. Cumin is an excellent spice for food and helps lose weight while reducing the accumulation of fat cells. This spice is superfluous in addition to preventing weight gain, pre-existing excess will also help you shed pounds. Cumin significantly reduces the amount of adipose tissue. In a study conducted at the Iranian University of Medical Sciences, it was found that women who included cumin in their diet had a 14% reduction in adipose tissue, while those in the control group showed a decrease in adiposity even despite a proper diet. Stinking ferula is a perennial monocarpic plant belonging to the Apiaceae family. The root is thick. Stem height 2 m, appears in 6-10 years. In the upper part, it forms a dense spherical inflorescence—a false ring. Leaves are soft, pubescent at the base, tripartite-cut. The umbels are numerous, large, up to 20 cm in diameter, and glabrous. The petals are light yellow. The fruits are flat, elliptical, or round-oval, up to 20 mm long and 15 mm wide. Ferula juice is primarily used for epilepsy, as well as as an expectorant and expectorant agent. It has analgesic, sedative, and laxative properties. Stinking ferula juice contains an initial active substance – essential oils. It has many healing properties; some people consider even large doses of it harmless, while others consider it toxic. In pharmacopoeia, assafetida is considered an active anti-seizure agent. In veterinary medicine, it is used against intestinal and skin parasites. Galenic preparations were previously used for air retention in the intestines and intestinal relaxation (as well as in homeopathy). Stinking ferula has a sharp, very strong, and garlic-like scent. The finished product has an oblique white "almond" shape and various sizes, and is used as a spice. In Iran and Afghanistan, it is also added to roasted and stewed dishes made from mutton. Vegetables and rice in India and Indonesia. Arbutus (P. anisum) is an annual herbaceous plant belonging to the caraway family, with 2 species. Common fennel (Arpabodiyon Vulgare) is cultivated in Uzbekistan. Its lower leaves are kidney-shaped or tripartite, with large saw teeth; the upper leaves are filamentous, divided into lobes. The flowers are small, white, gathered in a compound umbel. Anise fruits contain 3.2% essential oil, sometimes up to 6%, and up to 28% other oils. The essential oil contains up to 90% anethole. From fruit and essential oil prepared preparations are used as expectorants. Anise fruits and essential oil are used in the food industry. In addition, anise served as an antiseptic, destroying microbes, bacteria and dangerous viruses. Will has diuretic and blood pressure-lowering properties. Licorice juice is widely used in the treatment of colic in young children. Cinnamon stimulates appetite and improves the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract. Its fruits are also used as antiseptics and painkillers. Wild carrots are very rich in vitamins and essential oils. In medicine, it is used to treat kidney stone diseases and for cleansing the urinary tract. In conclusion, it should be noted that almost all representatives of the Apiaceae family possess medi (...truncated)
