Journal of Genetics https://doi.org/10.1007/s12041-017-0875-7 © Indian Academy of Sciences From the editor’s desk Fellow Geneticists, With this issue of Journal of Genetics I have completed my tenure as Editor-in-Chief of the journal. I served the journal as an Associate Editor and later as the Editor-in-Chief for nearly 10 years. As my association with the journal officially comes to an end, I can reflect with some sense of satisfaction that along with the rapid growth in the discipline the journal also took rapid strides. Owing to valiant efforts of my predecessors this historically important journal, which had gone into oblivion during the decades of 1970s and 1980s, has been able to resurrect itself in the comity of geneticists. The new Editor-in-Chief, Prof. H. A. Ranganath, is an eminent, Drosophila evolutionary geneticist. He brings with him a long experience and a distinguished career. I wish Prof. Ranganath good luck, and hope that the journal continues to be an instrument of choice with fellow geneticists for furthering the knowledge of genetics and genomics. I am grateful to my fellow editors and the editorial board for their support and camraderie. I put on record my gratitude to the Indian Academy of Sciences for giving me the opportunity to serve the journal as Associate Editor and Editor-in-Chief, and appreciation to the colleagues in the editorial office, Gracy, Navya and Prakash, who made the task look so much simpler. Please accept my good wishes for the new year, 2018. Rajiva Raman Editor-in-Chief (...truncated)
